Ingredients
  • 1 (7.25 ounce) package Macaroni and Cheese, e.g. Kraft Mac & cheese
  • 3/4 to 1 lb Extra-lean Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Mustard (or 1/4 tsp Cumin)
  • 1 tsp Garlic Salt
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1-1/2 cups (1/2 of a 24ounce jar) Marinara Sauce
  • Grated Cheddar (or Colby Jack) Cheese
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Bring about 2 quarts of lightly salted water to a boil in a large pot. Cook Macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 8 minutes.
  3. Over medium high heat, saute Onions in some EVOO in a skillet until softened. Add Ground Beef to the skillet, continue to cook until beef is browned and crumbly, 7 to 10 minutes. Midway through add Garlic, Cumin and Garlic Salt.
  4. Drain Macaroni; do not rinse. Return to the pot and add butter, milk, and the packages of Cheese Sauce Mix. Stir until well combined.
  5. Add the Ground Beef mixture, Marinara Sauce, to the pot. Stir until well combined, then transfer mixture to a 2-quart casserole dish. Sprinkle Grated Cheese on top. Cover casserole dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until heated through, 25 to 30 minutes minutes.
