Barbecue Chicken Drumsticks

Ingredients
  • 6 to 8 Chicken Drumsticks
  • 4 tbsp Chicken Spice Rub (See my Chicken Dry Rub)
  • Barbecue Sauce (Your choice)
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Parchment Paper (or Aluminum Foil and Cooking Spray, e.g. PAM)
Directions
  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Line a Baking Sheet with piece of Parchment Paper.
  • In a large (gallon size) ziptop bag, add Drumsticks. Then pour about a tablespoon or two of EVO into bag. Close bag and shake to coat Drumsticks with EVOO. Open bag, pour in Seasonings, close bag and shake.
  • Arrange Drumsticks on the Baking Sheet.
  • Bake the Drumsticks at 375F for 25 to 30 minutes. Flip Drumsticks over and bake another 25 to 30 minutes.
  • If grilling, fire up the Gas Grill immediately after flipping the Drumsticks over. Adjust Grill temperature to about 350F.
  • Finish on the Grill (1.) or in the Oven (2.)
    1. When the Drumsticks are finished baking in the oven, remove them to a serving dish. Take Drumsticks out to the Grill. Place Drumsticks on the Grill, baste with Barbecue Sauce and bake for 5 to 10 minutes. Flip the Drumsticks, baste with Barbecue Sauce and bake another 5 to 10 minutes. Serve.
    2. Remove Baking Sheet from Oven. Baste both sides of Drumsticks with Barbecue Sauce, return to oven and bake another 5 or 10 minutes. Serve.
Notes

  • If making more Chicken, e.g. 12 to 14 Drumsticks, work in batches. I.e., oil and season 1/2 of the Drumsticks, arrange them on the baking sheet. Then add more EVOO, shake, add Drumsticks, add the Seasoning, shake and arrange them on baking sheet.
  • If not finishing on the grill or in the oven with barbecue sauce, just bake for 30 minutes each side.
